Pegboard Kitchen DIY Organizer

Pegboard Kitchen DIY Organizer

Living in a small space is no joke. You really have to be creative and find ways to break up the room or add the illusion of more space. It can be especially hard to do so in the kitchen, which is typically confined to a sectioned off part of your home to begin with. In my case, our kitchen is hidden off to the side of our living room, sort of tucked away like a closet (which is an accurate size for it). It was hard enough trying to decorate the space with what we had, but I figured that it needed something to stand out and give it an upgraded feel.

Thank god for the pegboard because if it wasn’t for it’s versatility, my kitchen would still be a bore. The key word in that sentence is versatility. Installing a pegboard gives you the freedom to play around and not be tied down to single layout (which is especially useful during season changes).

Stop by your local hardware store (Lowes, Home Depot, Orchard) for a good-sized pegboard and some assorted peg accessories to get your project started. I used four 2 1/2 inch wood screws to secure my pegboard to my kitchen wall. You might need an extra set of hands to make sure the placing is straight. Be sure to also add 8-10 washers when securing it (I used 1/2 inch). This is important because you need to leave enough room to be able to stick the pegs in.

Arrange the pegs in any fashion, and for an added bonus, pick up a few wood boards to place some shelves on your board. Mine measured out at 10”x28”.

I love a good peg board, whether its in the kitchen, bedroom or living room. Its a great way to display your greenery, or your art and pictures, while being super handy. It also helps keep you organized.  No more searching through cramped drawers or shelves for that one measuring cup.
